The Universal Naturist Symbol

Small symbol. Big connection.

A little sun. A knowing smile. The Universal Naturist Symbol is a way to recognize your people—even when everyone’s wearing clothes.

Spot your people.

Take a closer look

Sunshine. With a little cheek.

The design is simple on purpose. There’s more to those lines than a day at the beach.

Seven rays. One world.

The sun’s seven rays stand for the seven continents—a reminder that the naturist community reaches far beyond your own backyard.

Yes, that’s a little behind.

Those flowing lines suggest a simplified backside and legs. To someone unfamiliar with the symbol, they might simply look like waves. A quiet nod to those who know.

Room for everyone.

Jacob Braun designed the symbol to be neutral across gender, skin tone, and language. It’s meant to connect naturist people, groups, and places, rather than identify one organization.

A shared beginning

2020

Chosen by naturists. Carried into the world.

Naturists around the world voted for Jacob Braun’s design in October 2020. The idea was straightforward: give people a recognizable way to show a positive connection with naturism in everyday life.

Handmade by Nate. Ready for your next adventure.

Made in the USA. Worn your way.

A little jewelry. A lot of you.

For me, naturism is about feeling comfortable in your own skin and finding good company. I make jewelry that carries that feeling with you: a small detail that can spark a conversation, earn a knowing smile, or simply feel like you.

I didn’t create the Universal Naturist Symbol. I give it a place in the handmade jewelry I make here at Naked Nate’s. Pick the piece that feels like yours, and wear it your way.

A few good questions

Curious? You’re in good company.

Do I need to belong to a club to wear it?

No. The symbol represents a positive connection with naturism, not membership in a particular club. You don’t need a membership card to appreciate what it stands for.

Will everyone recognize it?

Not necessarily—and that subtlety is part of the idea. Some people see sun and waves. Others recognize the naturist connection. It can be a small invitation to a good conversation.

Can I use the symbol myself?

Yes. The creator makes the symbol available under a Creative Commons license. Visit the original project for downloads and the creator’s page for the usage terms, including guidance on adaptations.
